FIGHTS AS BUSHENYI DISTRICT COUNCILORS WANT SACKED PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE CHAIR MAN BACK

The Bushenyi district councilors have tasked the chief Administrative Officer Mr.Elias Byamungu to let the chair man Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Mr.Emmanuel Karasi back in the office.

Bushenyi is currently operating without Public Accounts Committee after its chair man was chased under unclear circumstances.

In council meeting yesterday 28^th.May 2019 held at district council hall, Councilors blamed the Chief Administrative Officer for removing Mr.Karasi on PAC committee when it is clearly indicted in local government act that any member on PAC committee including the chair man shall be removed by the councilors.

In defense the CAO said that he did not chase PAC committee chair man only that whistle blowers brought information in his office that Mr.Karasi forged documents and that names on the documents are not his.

CAO also noted that he called Mr.Karasi in his office to prove what was being alleged on him was not true which he did not do and when he heard that police was looking for him, he went on run but he was not chased by CAO.

Responding on the same issue the Bushenyi Resident District Commissioner Jolly Tibemanya requested the LC5 Chair man to write directly to the minister of local government to come and intervene into the matter.

The chair man had earlier said that he wrote to solicitor general who said that since they were still alleging the PAC committee chair man, he should be working as investigations are going on.

The chair man noted that he informed the CAO about solicitor General’s decision but he still refused to allow Mr. Karasi to come back in the office.
