MAN ARRESTED FOR CUTTING GIRLFRIEND’S HEAD OVER SEXUAL DISSATISFACTION

Masindi police are holding a 29 year old man for cutting his girlfriend leaving her severely injured over failure to satisfy him in the bed.
The suspect has been identified as Stuart Anzima, a resident of Kidulu Cell in Kigulya division Masindi municipality.
The victim Maureen Mbabazi says on 2nd August at around 7:30pm, she received a call from her then boyfriend Anzima inviting her to spend a night at his and solve their issues.However upon arrival Anzima started beating her using a panga that caused severe cuts on her head.
She was rescued by the neighbors.
Oryem Simon, a relative to Mbabazi said in the response to an alarm, he found Mbabazi lying in the pool of blood and rushed her to Masindi hospital where she was admitted and is still receiving treatment from home.
According to Johnson Babiha, the officer in charge of the criminal investigations department at Masindi police station, Anzima was arrested by the residents and handed him over to police.
Babiha Johnson said domestic violence cases have increased during Covid-19 and 10-15 cases are reported on a daily basis compared to 4-5 cases daily before covid-19.
Agnes Okidi, the Officer in charge of child and family protection unit at Masindi police station, said 108 domestic violence cases have been reported in her office since the lockdown in March this year.
She added that women are the most victims who accuse their husbands of beating them.
According to Annet Karamagi, the Masindi District probation officer, 25 cases of domestic violence have been reported in her office since the month of March.
She attributed the increase of cases to Covid-19 effect since most couples were not used to staying together.
