MAN ARRESTED IN MASINDI FOR ASSAULTING BIOLOGICAL DAUGHTER TO DEATH

A 35 year-old man identified as Vincent Businge is behind bars on allegations of beating own daughter to death.
The incident happened in Nyakakoma Village Pakanyi Sub County in Buruli County Masindi district on Thursday.
The accused is suspected to have harshly beat his daughter, only identified as Kiiza, when the two were in the garden harvesting maize.
The purpose for the incident hasn’t been established, however, residents are accusing the suspect of drug addiction.
Godfrey Muhumuza, one of the neighbors, revealed that he interacted with the deceased about 8am before she went to the garden with her father.
Muhuza added that after about 15 minutes, they saw the suspect returning home carrying the deceased on his shoulder.
‘’I interacted with the deceased before they went with the father to harvest maize, I was surprised to see him carrying her on the shoulder,’’ he explained.
Jane Atugonza, another resident disclosed that the suspect is a notorious drug addict and he beats his wife and children frequently over simple matters.
‘’He is a notorious drug addict and he beats his wife and children frequently over simple matters,’’ she said.
The Nyakakoma Village LC1 Chairperson, David Bahemuka said he has on several occasions been warning Businge of criminal acts like theft, drug abuse and poor behavior but all in vain.
He says as village leaders, they have resolved to dismiss him from their village.
Police from Kaborogota police station arrived at the scene and arrested the accused as the deceased was laid to rest on Friday.
