A six-year-old girl is nursing burn wounds she sustained after her step father poured hot water on her body.
The survivor is identified as Rehema Karungi, a daughter to Agnes Asaba, a resindet of Kinubi in Hoima East Division, Hoima City.
According to the child, her step father Isa Ssenyondo recently asked her to boil water which she did, but when the water boiled, the man asked the six year old to lift the boiling water from the cooking stove.
The child adds that the man asked her to bring a cup and ordered her to sit down on the floor. The man allegedly used the cup to pour water on the girl’s thighs and legs injuring her critically.
All this happened as the child’s mother was in the house watching television.
Asaba and her husband Isa Ssenyondo who roasts chicken in Kinubi did not rush the child to hospital immediately until the next day when her condition worsened.
The couple later took the child to Asaba’s mother in Lusaka village, Hoima City where a good samaritan Sharon Kobusinge picked up the child while in critical condition.
Kobusinge notified police that later picked up Ssenyondo who is currently detained at Hoima CPS.
Nampijja, the Officer in Charge of the Child and Family Protection Unit at Hoima Central Police Station confirms the report saying Ssenyondo will be taken to court to answer charges of Child torture once investigations are complete.
