In Iganga—
Man in Igaanga district aged 35 has been nabbed and arrested for allegedly impersonating police officers.
The Busoga East police Spokesperson, Mr James Mubi, on Saturday said the suspect has been extorting money from residents with cases at police under the guise of helping them to settle the matter.
By the time of his arrest, the suspect had wrongly obtained Shs2m from one Ms Beatrice Mwondha purportedly to help her to release her relative from police custody.
Mr Mubi, who added that the suspect pretended to be a police officer attached to Iganga CPS, challenged residents to always ask for warrant cards from anyone purporting to be a police officer. He said charges of impersonation and extortion await the suspect.
