MAN KIDNAPS TODDLER IN RUKUNGIRI

Police in Rukungiri are investigating circumstances under which a 3 year old girl was allegedly kidnapped.

According to police statement, unidentified person went to Julius Byaruhanga’s home in Kyebicere cell, Ndere parish in Ruhinda sub-county in Rukungiri Districtand took away his a 3 year old daughter Pulona Nahwera.

Byaruhanga says that on returning from his business at around 3:30PM, he found his son Prosper Niwamanya with Barekye Pauson 15, a herdsman hunting for the victim. 

He says that as they were still searching, another area resident Nayebare Doreen 20 a tailor from Katokye cell, Burombe Parish, Ruhinda Sub County told them she had seen Akatusasira Benson their village mate carrying the child with a laptop bag at the back through the bushes which prompted the search team to follow him up but in vain.

The matter was later reported at Ruhinda police post and later referred to Cps Rukungiri for further management.

Elly Maate the Kigezi regional police mouthpiece says that the motive of the Kidnap is not yet established as inquiries are at hand to arrest the suspect and rescue the victim.

The case of alleged Kidnap is registered at Rukungiri Police Station under reference number CRB 154/2021 to help in investigations.
