The suspected killer who is currently on run has been identified as Elias Turyaheebwa.
The LC I chairperson of Kamwiri village in Kiijonjo ward in Rwenkoobwa Town council Nazarious Kanyeihamba told the press that Turyaheebwa killed his grandfather Mzee Fred Baryamujura on allegations that he (Fred) used charms on his(Elias’) pregnant wife who recently died.
“It is said that Turyaheebwa who got annoyed timed his grandfather having lunch at 1.00 pm forced the door open and found him in the dining room and hit him on the head two times using an axe. Baryamujura fell down on floor and started bleeding too much,” Kanyeihamba said.
The family members raised the alarm which attracted several people who rushed the deceased to Rwenkoobwa Health centre II where he was announced dead on arrival.
Turyaheebwa after sensing the danger fled from the scene to the slopes of Kiijonjo hills.
By the press time the police and locals were still hunting him.
