Socialists and photographer Martha Kagimba – known for her social media name Martha Kay and Shawula Kasule, the daughter of Sheik Siliman Kasule Ndilangwa, the Kibule-based Supreme Mufti face arrest over their leaked porn pictures
The anti-porn committee on Monday said they have taken interest in their cases.
Martha’s photos leaked just days after Shawula nude videos had leaked and shared on social media.
The chairperson of the Pornography Control Committee Dr Annette Kezaabu, said on Monday that the two girls will have to explain to the committee how their photos ended up in public.
“I just returned from abroad yesterday (Sunday) but we’ve taken interest in Martha’s case and that of the Supreme Mufti’s daughter. Our committee will meet on Wednesday (June 5) and thereafter work with police to cause their arrest. In these two cases, we have no other suspects apart from the two girls themselves appearing in the photos naked. They will have to come before the committee and explain how their photos ended up in the public,” she said.
Dr Kezaabu said she had not been able to talk to the two girls because their known phone contacts are switched off.
“I have been trying to reach Martha but failed. Even the other girl. I talked to Martha’s mum who said all her phones were switched off,” Dr Kezaabu said.
Kampala Metropolitan Police also have refuted claims that Martha reported a criminal case to police after her nude photos were allegedly leaked on social media.
After the photos were leaked, her social media account had a post that stated that she had reported the person behind the leaks to police.
“This was a breach of trust and privacy. I have reported the issue to Kira Road @PoliceUg, submitted the necessary evidence to put the person responsible in his place,” Martha Kay tweeted on her Twitter account on May 31.
But Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Mr Patrick Onyango said no report has been registered at Kira Road as she alleges.
“I have inquired with Kira Road and there is no record of such a case being reported by her or associates. We aren’t investigating any case of that nature,” SP Onyango said.
PCC and the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to allow the two bodies to corporate and collaborate in early detection of pornography on all communications, prosecution of offenders, training media personnel and provision of educative materials on dangers of pornography; all aimed at implementing the Anti-Pornography Act.
Dr. Kezaabu said the duo will use available infrastructures in detecting pornography including digital logger, free communication services –short codes and toll-free numbers.
According to new rankings by Alexa, an American web traffic analysis company based in San Francisco, pornographic materials and information in Uganda have never been more consumed than now despite the 2-year old pornographic control committee instituted by the government to prevent the use or spread of pornographic materials and information.
Fr. Lokodo attributed the high rate of pornographic consumption to moral degenerations.
“Our youth’s morals today have badly degenerated. I blame this on their parents and their local leaders. Consumption of porn materials and information has serious social, physical and psychological side effects. It has led to family and marriage breakages in some cases,” Mr. Lokodo said.
