Angry Bodaboda cyclists in Masindi town yesterday stormed the Masindi General hospital demanding the hospital administration to refund their money after the death of their fellow bodaboda rider.
The bodaboda riders embarked on soliciting for money to transport their fellow to Mulago hospital after realizing that the hospital had no fuel for transport.
Yahise Baguma who got an accident on Sunday last week had been admitted to Masindi main hospital but the Doctors referred Baguma to Mulago for further treatment.
The bodabodas said that they mobilized money to buy fuel for the ambulance on Monday but when they asked for the patient, one of the Doctors refused to release him on grounds that it was too late.
Doreen Birungi the sister to Baguma said that they had given 380,000/= to the driver to fuel the ambulance but yesterday morning Dr.Vincent Katusiime who was on duty told her that her brother had been severely damaged in the brain and there was no need to go to Mulago.
She added that when she asked Doctor Katusiime over the refund of the money he told her that when the brother dies the hospital administration would transport the body to his home which the relatives refused.
Unfortunately Yahise Baguma died in the afternoon something which brought about confusion in the hospital premises.
This forced the Medical superintendent Dr.Vincent Katusiime and the principal assistant secretary Richard Kiiza to intervene calling for a closed door meeting with the relatives.
According to Baguma Gerald the area councilor Bigando ward who also attended the meeting, the hospital refunded the money during the close door meeting.
Upon receiving the money, Bodaboda riders and the relatives transported the deceased’s body to Gorora cell in Bigando parish Masindi municipality.
