MASINDI CONTRACTORS WARNED AGAINST SHODDY WORK

Contractors in Masindi district have been warned against shoddy work, the warning was sounded on Tuesday evening by different leaders in Masindi district during the launch of three projects.
The projects are construction of two class room blocks, office and store at Kijunjubwa primary school and Kitonozi primary and partial rehabilitation of out patient department at Bwijanga health centre IV.
The three projects with funding from the district discretionary equalization grant are costing over 200 million shillings.
While launching the projects, Emmy Ngabirano the resident district commissioner Masindi warned the contractors against shoddy work, saying that they shouldn’t stretch the government beyond its limit.
He also noted that if they continue with shoddy work, the government will start awarding contracts to the Uganda People’s Defence Force construction brigade which will leave other contractors and residents jobless.
Ngabirano also challenged the contractors to complete the different projects awarded to them within eight weeks noting that if they don’t have funds they should get quick loans and ensure the projects are done before July.
Cosmas Byaruhanga the Masindi district chairperson challenged the people on ground like the area chairpersons, headteachers and the in charge to do daily monitoring of the projects to avoid shoddy work.
Robert Abia Owith the deputy chief administrative officer Masindi called for cooperation and monitoring of these projects mostly by the headteachers and the incharge to avoid shoddy work.
Hon. Kenneth Kiiza Nyendwoha the member of parliament for Bujenje County challenged the parents to take their children to learning institutions since the government is going to construct two class room blocks, office and store at Kitonozi primary school.
