In Masindi—
Wilson Isingoma Mugimba the former Masindi district LCV contestant has withdrawn the petition he filed against Cosmas Byaruhanga, and the electoral commission.
Mugimba ran to Masindi High Court challenging the victory of Cosmas Byuhanga the LCV Masindi distrct. Mugimba petitioned that Byaruhanga who was declared the National Resistance Movement – NRM flag bearer was not the true bearer.
After the NRM primaries in 2020, Mugimba ran to the NRM secretariat in Kampala challenging the victory of Byaruhanga, Mugimba cited that Byaruhanga had involved in vote bribery in Bujenje, Bwijanga, Budongo, and areas.
However, when Mugimba ran to the NRM secretariat to challenge his opponent, Byaruhanga had already been nominated as the NRM flag bearer for Masindi district LCV seat.
According to Simon Kasangaki the lawyer representing Byaruhanga Cosmas, Mugimba wrongly filed his case.
He says that Mugimba filed his case as a civil suit and later asked to change as an electoral commission but court injected it.
“A suit cannot call for the cancellation of someone’s election,” He said.
Mugimba who bounced back as an Independent Candidate for the seat lost to his opponent Cosmas Byaruhanga.
