MASINDI DPC DISOWNS OFFICERS ACCUSED OF EXTORTING MONEY FROM RESIDENTS

Ednah Nyiraneza the acting Masindi District Police Commander has disowned the Special Police Constables who are extorting money from residents in Karujubu Division Masindi Municipality.

Last week, Hon. Moses Kirya the Karujubu Division Coincillor also, the Masindi District speaker pinned the OC station Karujubu police post over extorting money, confiscating motorcycles on the verandah.

The speaker said the security personnel confiscate motorcycles parked in the verandah and ask for 100,000 from their owners in addition to stopping residents from playing music in their houses by confiscating music system for money.

But, Nyiraneza rubbished the allegations arguing that the officers behind these actions are those whose contracts expired but only pick uniforms from Kabalye training school to steal from residents.

The police officer also added that she has already engaged the officers in charge of police stations and posts in the district to net the suspects.

Nyiraneza has also appealed to the public to be vigilant and in case they land on any of the suspects should capture or hand them over to the nearest police station because they are tarnishing the name of security.
