Journalists in Masindi district under their umbrella Greater-Masindi Media Practitioners Association – GMEPA have this morning resolved to boycott all police activities.
The decision was reached after the Masindi journalists were left out during the passing out of police officers at Kabalye Police Training School Masindi but rather their colleagues from Kampala were invited.
Addressing the Press at GMEPA Office, Steven Wandera the GMEPA President said that as the association executive, they have resolved to boycott all activities involving the Uganda Police because they have not been appreciated for the services rendered to police.
Wandera also asserted that when police was recruiting, they involved the area Journalists, but when it came to passing out they were sidelined which is unfair.
“They should always involve Kampala Journalists when recruiting because they have not valued our services as local media,” he angrily noted.
The journalists’ president also noted that they will write to the office of the Resident District Commissioner, the District Internal Security Officer, the District Police Commander, the office of Kabalye Police Training School, and the other sister security organizations showing their aggrievances
Robert Businge the Publicity Secretary GMEPA noted that it’s not first time police has sidelined the Journalists in Masindi; he explained that in most events graced by the President of Uganda they don’t consider the area Journalists which is unfair.
