A former nurse at Masindi main hospital has dragged Masindi district Local Government to the high court accusing it of mistreatment and harassment.
Joel Apango says that in 2008 he got a scholarship to last for 18 months which was to be sponsored by Masindi district local government and received a release letter from the then CAO but never got the money.
He explains that he had already applied for the study leave so he had to spend 18 months without working since his scholarship was not considered.
Apango says that when the period of the scholarship ended, he wrote to the then chief administrative officer for redeployment and was deployed to Kichandi health centre II in 2012 on condition that he would be monitored for a year without salary arrears he missed for a period of 18 months.
Speaking yesterday during the court proceedings which were presided over by the Masindi visiting Judge Justice Musalu Musene, Apango noted that he brought the matter to court to challenge the legality of the action of the CAO.
He added that he wants court to compel Masindi district local government to pay his salary arrears amounting to 4.6 million, scholarship fund of 3 million and 2 million other costs which translates to over 9 million shillings.
Justice Musalu Musene adjourned the matter to 25th April 2019
