47 trainees of military level 3 course for intake 17 at Masindi military training school have failed to get certificate of successful completion after undergoing 6 months of training.
The military school commandant Pole Kagina revealed this during the pass out held within the institution premises yesterday.
Kagina in his remarks noted that the course for the 17th intake commenced on 21st of Feb. 2024 with total of 499 trainees but only 458 were able to continue with the course after 7 went absent without official leave, 31 left on medical ground, while three transferred to other institutions among others.
Kagina who could not ably cite the reasons as to why the 47 trainees failed, tasked them to come back for retake in the next intake.
However, Brig. Gen. Joseph Semwanga Musoke commander of the 1st infantry division who represented chief of defense force attributed the failure on mindset.
“A person’s attitude begins with what they choose to focus on and the words they use to express themselves. A person with negative attitude will focus on the situation and be like that is a useless idea, it will not work out but the one with positive attitude will look at it as good idea,” Musoke explained.
The officer however advised those were successful to continue with the discipline they have been exhibiting at the training ground adding that they operate in environment where they deal with civilians not revolutionary elements.
He also asked them to be mindful of their health since a nation needs soldiers who are healthy citing out the deadly silent killer HIV/AIDS which has claimed many lives of their colleagues.
