MASINDI RDC SUMMONED TO APPEAR BEFORE DISTRICT COUNCIL

Moses Kirya the Masindi district speaker has summoned the Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, to appear in council today to defend himself over several allegations put against him.

The accusations put against the RDC include; being at the fore front of dividing Masindi district council, protecting corrupt people in the district, using his office to oppress the poor in the interest of the rich , causing disunity amongst NR members, poor working relationship with the district chairperson, fighting development and neglecting his duty.

Two weeks back, over 200 residents from the nine sub counties of Masindi district petitioned the office of the speaker requesting him to table the matter before the council such that it could recommend for his transfer.

Addressing journalists in his office yesterday, Kirya explained that when he received the citizens’ concern, he communicated to the district executive on the 12^th of November 2019 to enable them have an input into the matter.

He added that on 25^th of November 2019 the district chairperson, Cosmas Byaruhanga, notified him on how the district executive had resolved that the matter be tabled in council in fulfillment of the people’s request.

When contacted, the RDC Godfrey Nyakahuma confirmed having received the speaker’s communication.

He commended the speaker for being transparent noting that all he wants is to be accorded a fair hearing.
