In Masindi—
Youth in Masindi district are demanding for youth friendly spaces in health facilities where they can freely access services like reproductive health.
According to the report released by Recreation for Development and Peace (RDP) at the district headquarters on Thursday, it indicated that the public health sector especially sub county health centres do not have youth friendly sections where young people can access health services such as HIV counseling and testing.
The report added that this has led to young people to shy away from seeking services due to fear for stigma and possible victimization.
Presenting the report, Kenneth Orone from RDP explained that the youth need a physical spaces where they can openly seek and access sexual reproductive health services which will help them curb the numbers of HIV and other sexually related diseases.
Robert Muhangi the Executive Director RDP, a youth based organization in Masindi district said that the report was compiled from the four sub counties of Bwijanga, Pakanyi, Miirya and central division during the youth week such that they would come out with a position paper which will be presented during the district youth day celebrations which will be celebrated on the 28thof August at Kabalega college.
Muhangi warned that youth to use their big numbers resourcefully to help them achieve what they want noting that the youth can use their numbers to acquire the positions they want.
Speaking during the same function, Kanaginagi Ateenyi the secretary for finance Masindi district noted that as leaders they need to carry out proper planning for the youth.
