MASINDI MAN ARRESTED WITH FORGED NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD

In Masindi–
One person has been arrested in Masindi district with forged National
Identity card during the army recruitment exercise which was held at
Masindi stadium.
Maj. Peter Mugisa; the Public Relations Officer for the team which was conducting the recruiting exercise in Masindi district identified the
suspect as Silver Nsubuga; resident of Katama cell, Central division in
Masindi municipality.
Mugisa added that when Nsbuga was interrogated, he explained that he
obtained it from Nassa road in Kampala.He added that Nsubuga was
arrested and handed over to police.
He added that they are emphasizing National IDs to avoid recruiting
non Ugandans adding that they keenly followed them because Masindi and Kiryandong districts have a lot of refugees
When contacted the district police commander Masindi, Edwin Atukunda, to comment on the arrest, he confirmed it and said that the ID will be subjected to verification before the culprit is charged.
He added that out of the 550 people who turned up for the exercise, they
only needed 110 people. He also said that among the 550 people, who
turned up, 18 were females and only one female had been considered
because she had all the requirements.
He also said that Masindi’s number was overwhelming something which
forced them to subject the recruits to aptitude test to reduce the
number to 100.
