A total of 37 couples yesterday tied the knot at St. Paul cathedral, North West Ankole diocese in Ibanda during a long service that was presided over by the Bishop Rt.Rev. Amos Magezi .
Among the couples was 87year old, Mr. John Mpungirehi
Rt. Rev. Magezi who officiated the ceremony hailed the couples who have dating for many years for showing a good example especially before their families, church and government life.
He noted that the matrimonial marriage needs to be respected by the two parties and nurtured and well maintained, but not broken up.
“To day marks and opens a new chapter in the history in North West Ankole diocese and marks a history for organizing a mass wedding ceremony. It will be performed every year in the five years ahead. North West Ankole diocese was born on 1.10.2017” He said.
He advised men to stop the habit of beating and torturing their wives in the public and even before their children which will embarrass them. He wished all couples who tied the knot a long journey during their marriage.
