MASSA TO BE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman Emelian Kayima said after recording a statement from Mr Massa, they are looking at attempted murder of PPC Alfred Gawaya and reckless driving charges.
“The file will soon be taken to the DPP who will advise us,” Mr Kayima said.
Police said their officers on Wednesday while on a night patrol found a car suspiciously parked on the Northern Bypass section near the stadium and when they approached to speak to the occupants the driver whom they later learned was Massa knocked one of them before he sped off.
PPC Alfred Gawaya survived with injuries when former Uganda Massa allegedly rammed his Toyota Prado car into the policeman’s motorcycle.
Massa is alleged to have knocked Mr Gawaya who tried to stop him as he was getting away.
The incident happened at about 2am, near Mandela National Stadium Namboole, in Kampala.

“Police chased and opened fire with the intent of deflating the tyres,” said Mr Kayima. Instead, a bullet ripped through the body of the vehicle and injured 25-year-old Josephine Maliza, the female occupant in the car.
“Geoffrey Massa suddenly stopped, almost hit another motorist and allegedly hit his forehead on the windscreen, injuring himself.
