MAYOR KAKYEBEZI ORDERS CITY DWELLERS ALONG VICTOR BWANA ROAD TO VACATE IMMEDIATELY

Mbarara city mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi has warned city dwellers with buildings alongside Victor Bwana road to leave immediately.
The mayor added that if not the enforcement team will forcefully push them away adding that they should not expect any compensation.
“They need to leave early and we shall not compensate them because they built in the road,” Kakyebezi added.
The mayor was addressing the media at the ground breaking of 0.95KM Victor Bwana road in Mbarara city.
The road is part of the Project financed by Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) which was supposed to kick off by May this year but delayed due to lack of a consultant.
The 23 billion shillings project is supposed to cover three major roads of; Victor Bwana road 0.95Km, Galt road 0.63Km and Stanley road 0.78Km.
Lt. Col. James Mwesigye the Resident City Commissioner Mbarara city warned the contractor not to produce shoddy work or else he will be held accountable.
This project is the third phase of Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development (USMID) program in Mbarara city.

Mbarara city has a road network of 500km. 41 KM are tarmac and most of them are located in the city business district.
