MAYOR KAKYEBEZI VOWS TO KICK CORRUPTION OUT OF MBARARA CITY

The Mbarara city Mayor elect Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi has vowed to fight corruption and ensure the general cleanliness of Mbarara in forth coming term.
Kakyebezi noted that elected city councilors should work hard towards revamping the development of the city instead of engaging themselves in political fights.
Kakyebezi made the remarks yesterday in an exclusive interview with www.mknewslink.com reporter.
He said that he will not tolerate corruption adding that he will focus on accountability and transparency.
Kakyebezi was declared winner by the Mbarara city Returning Officer Violet Atuhurira in the just concluded mayoral polls after garnering 23,465votes followed by Stanley Katembeya of FDC 6070votes,Akatukunda Albert Kakye independent candidate 1166 votes,Mpaka Peter of NUP 786 votes, Kibira Apollo independent candidate 263 votes, Mugarura Norman Vincent of ANT with only 195 votes.
Kakyebezi 47 was born in Kakibaaya, Kebisoni sub county, Rukungiri district and he went to Kantaganya primary school in Kinoni Kazo district.
He later joined Makoboore High school in Rukungiri where he studied up to senior Three before joining Nyakagyeme secondary School where he completed O level.
He went to Rugarama secondary School in Ntungamo district for A’level
He later enrolled for a Diploma in secondary education at National Teacher’s College Kabale and graduated in 1998.
Kakyebezi taught at Kazo Modern High School in Kazo county and Nyabushozi in Kashongi county.
In 2002 he joined radio west as a presenter and a DJ.
In 2012, he enrolled for Bachelor of Social work and social administration at Bishop Stuart University in Mbarara city.
He worked at Radio west until October, 28, 2015 when he was elected NRM flag bearer for Mbarara municipality mayoral seat and a Mayor in 2016.
Kakyebezi beat Herbert Kamugisha and Justus Karuhanga to retain NRM flag in Sept last year.
