MBARARA ARCHBISHOP CALLS FOR PROTECTION OF JOURNALISTS

The Arch-Bishop of the Mbarara catholic archdiocese Lambert Bainomugisha has called for Protection Of journalists while at work.
The Arch-Bishop made the call during a mass he led yesterday at Nyamityoobora Catholic parish in Mbarara city to celebrate the world press Freedom Day.
Felix Ainebyoona who is the Chairman Mbarara Archdiocese Catholic Journalists Association says this year’s Celebrations were held to support the plight of young children in Western region.
He adds that they carried out various activities in commemoration of this year’s Celebrations whereby they visited Holy Innocent’s Hospital and peadiatric ward at Mbarara regional referral hospital purposely to find out the plight of young children in those hospitals.
Ainebyoona further says they have published stories pointing out challenges encountered in health facilities.
Rev.Fr .Didas Kasaapuli the parish Priest of Uganda Marty’s Town Parish in Mbarara city commended journalists’ role in transforming societies and thus encouraged them to be factual and do enough analysis before they can publish or broadcast information.
This year’s World press freedom day were celebrated under the theme journalism under digital siege.
