MBARARA BODA BODA CYCLISTS DEMAND FOR INSTALLATION OF STREET LIGHTS, CAMERAS IN BOOMA

Boda Boda Cyclists in Mbarara city want the authorities to immediately install street lights in the dark spots following numerous murders of their colleagues.
The cyclists pointed out the areas of Booma, Northern by pass, Biharwe which are hotspots for the series of Boda Boda Cyclists murders.
Sadius Owokunda the Mbarara City Boda Boda Cyclists Chairman told www.mknewslink.com that authorities should ensure installation of Closed Circuit cameras (CCTV) and street lights in areas that have become black spots for killing Boda Boda Cyclists.
He said that police and other security agencies have failed to do their core role of protecting people and their properties.
He said that police have failed to deliver reports and apprehending perpetrators who kill boda boda cyclists.
Julius Bahati a boda boda cyclist at Mbarara regional referral hospital stage said that security has not done much protecting his colleagues such as deploying in dark spots of Booma.
However, Aaron Mweheyo a boda boda cyclist at High Court blamed his colleagues for failing to adhere to curfew guidelines making them easy targets for criminals.
At least, two boda boda riders have so far been killed in this month of October and their motorcycles taken by the assailants.
The case of Damiano Kamugisha alias Kazaho aged 30 years old a Boda Boda Cyclist at Mbarara regional referral hospital gate stage is the latest.
The deceased was on 12th Oct.2021 found lying facing down behind the fence at the roadside near the garden with marks of violence ,blood oozing out from the mouth and nose hit by a blunt object most likely a Hammer which shuttered his skull.
Another boda boda cyclist Anthony Twesigye 22 years a resident of Bwenkoma Cell, Rukindo Ward, Mbarara city south was killed on 6th.Oct 2021 and his body dumped in farms near Mbarara University Kihumuro campus before the assailants robbed him of motorcycle Bajaj Boxer registration number UFJ 164V.
