MBARARA CENTRAL MARKET TRADERS FINALLY GIVEN STALLS

Traders in Mbarara have finally been allocated stalls at the redeveloped Mbarara central market.
Addressing the Media on Thursday in Mbarara city, Emmanuel Muhumuza the chairman Mbarara Central Market said the process commenced on Wednesday this week with vendors dealing in meat, fish, chicken
He added that the process which was expected to yesterday Friday with vendors dealing in boutiques, merchandise, hotel, diaries would see a total of 593 vendors who appeared on the list verified by the office of Resident City Commissioner Mbarara city get stalls.
Muhumuza however asserted that new Vendors at Independence Park would first go through application process in the office of the city clerk Mbarara City before being allocated Stalls at the redeveloped market.
“We have been suffering with the situation at Independence Park but with this new facility we hope to operate our businesses in a better way,” explained Dononzio Kibanda a trader at the market.
The new Mbarara Central market accommodates several facilities which include; lock ups (552), stalls (256), pitches, (167), food court, rest, day-care, installed CCTV cameras, modern toilets, and showers among others.
The facility was constructed by ROKO Construction Company at a cost of ugx.21 billion, as part of the presidential initiatives under the markets and agriculture trade improvement project (MATIP).
