MBARARA CITY COUNCILLORS PROTEST UNFULFILLED RESOLUTIONS.

Mbarara City council was last evening turned into a drama Theater of sorts after councillors who had turned up for a council meeting sought adjournment of Council business over Unfulfilled Council resolutions.
The Councillors accuse the executive team led by the city Mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi and the City clerk Assy Abirebe of disrespecting Council resolutions and Incompetence.
Mr.Godfery Baryomunsi the Councillor representing Mbarara City North A Constituency,told the Council presided over by speaker Bonny Tashobya Karusya on Monday that they have now passed a total number of 126 Council resolutions but to their dismay only four resolutions have been so far implemented.
This, he says, has crippled service delivery in Mbarara city with their voters questioning their roles as councillors.
“We are Honorable councillors we are voted to come and be the voice of our people ,so we have decided that the Council business should stop here until further notice”Baryomunsi explained.
This comes at a time when Mbarara city council executive team is struggling to implement 126 resolutions Which include putting in place an action plan for River Rwizi , Harmonising of routes and stages within the taxi park by engineering ,works and transport department through consultation with the ministry of works ,An internal policy on enforcement of the fees specifying the process of impounding , resolving disputes and confirmation of payment drafted by stakeholders under the leadership of commercial office among others and only four resolutions have been so far fulfilled.
In her submission,Priscah Mulongo the deputy Mayor Mbarara city blasted Councillors roasting the executive Team over unfulfilled resolutions to be cheerful of the so far fulfilled resolutions and stop blame games.
“As the executive we are there and we are working ,we have been able to title most of the council lands, Constructed several roads, only that we need an extraordinary Council session to aveil what we have been able to achieve”Mulongo explained.
Mrs.Betty Tigefera a councillor representing the elderly conquered with the deputy Mayor and called for an extraordinary Council session after two months to carryout an audit of the so far fulfilled resolutions.
The Mbarara City Speaker,Mr. Bonny Tashobya Karusya,urged the executive team and the City clerk to formally compile a detailed report indicating the resolutions so far achieved before the next Council session .
“These undone resolutions it is too much, this is not a casino hall that councillors have to always deliberate yielding no results,am adjourning this Council to the the next session” Tashobya
explained.
