MBARARA ELECTIONS: MAYOR KAKYEBEZI IN EARLY LEAD, TANGA ODOI APPRECIATES VOTERS’ DISCIPLINE

The Chairman NRM electoral commission has given a vote of thanks to the people of Mbarara city for the discipline they have managed to show in today’s NRM mayoral and local council elections
Speaking to media at Madarasat primary school polling station in Kisenyi Kakoba Division, Dr.Tanga Odoi noted that so far he had not witnessed any single problem regards the voting exercise apart from an incident that happened at Mbarara high school polling station where the NRM youths engaged in a feast fight over unclear issues.
Asked about their preparation as the party heads towards today’s voting exercise ,Tanga Odoi proudly said that in the first place during the NRM primaries for MP they had no credible voter register but the party chairman made it clear that even those NRM party supporters whose names do not appear in voter registers are legible to vote ,as long as they have National Identity cards.
Meanwhile, the interim city Mayor Kakyebezi is so far taking early lead from polling stations like Madarasat primary school polling station where Kakyebezi gunned 892 votes, followed by his rival Herbert Kamugisha with 140 votes.
Mbarara high Street polling station Kakyebezi gunned 10380 votes followed by Herbert Kamugisha with only 65 votes
