MBARARA FALLEN MIDWIFE’S HUSBAND, 3 OTHERS UNDER INVESTIGATION

Mbarara police are investigating the death of a nursing officer from Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, whose body was recovered from river Rwizi yesterday.
The deceased, identified as Judith Kyarisiima, a wife to Justus Nkwasibwe, the head teacher of Bugashe One Primary School in Nyakayojo, Mbarara City South Division, went missing from her marital home on September 2, 2024.
Her body was discovered along the shores of River Rwizi and was transferred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
Rwizi Regional Police spokesperson Samson Kasasira confirmed that the 50-year-old Kyarisiima was found dead at 9:00 a.m. near Lugazi, along the banks of River Rwizi.
Kasasira added that investigations are ongoing to determine whether her death was a result of murder or suicide, with samples collected from the body and individuals she was with before her death.
Kasasira also revealed that four individuals, including Kyarisiima’s husband, are under investigation as key suspects in her disappearance and death.
Harrison Kagule, the Public Relations Officer for Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, stated that there had been no previous reports of gender-based violence from the couple.
