MBARARA HIGH SCHOOL DEFEATS NTARE SCHOOL, OTHERS IN DEBATE

Mbarara High School was yesterday crowned the champion of Western Uganda Schools Training and Debate Tournament 2016.
The Debate was organized by National Debate Council and hosted by Bwongyera Girls SS in Kajara county Ntungamo District.
Mbarara High School emerged winner after defeating Bweranyangi Girls SS of Bushenyi District in the finals.
The Tournament attracted 10 out of over 25 secondary schools that were invited from Western Uganda to participate in the Debate.
Mbarara H/S came in first place followed by Bweranyangi Girls SS, Ntare School 3rd,St Paul H/S Rushooka 4th ,Bwongyera Girls SS 5th,Ibanda SS 6th , Muntuyera H/S Kitunga 7th ,Kitwe SS 8th ,Maama Janet Museveni Girls SS 9th ,and Rwashamaire H/S in 10th position.
The winning school will participate at National level competition due to take place on 12th Dec 2016 at Nalya SS Namugongo in Wakiso District and the final competition will be at Uganda’s Parliament on 13th Dec 2016.
Handing over the Trophy to Mbarara H/S, the chairman LCV Ntungamo District Denis Singahache tasked all students to be focused and assertive if they are to succeed in their studies and be persons of great valve in future.
Singahache hailed the Headmistress Bwongyera Girls SS Muzoora Atuhairwe Juliet and the Chairman National Debate Council Gasta Kakaire for organizing debate which will mentally sharpen the students to be good orators and leaders of tomorrow worldwide.
The chairman National Debate Council Gasta Kakaire was un happy with low turn up of schools in the tournament saying that they are denying students chance to build their talents.
According to Kakaire engaging students in mental sports alongside academics will improve on their performances in studies.
The winning school was awarded a trophy and other participating schools were given certificates of attendance.
