MBARARA LABOUR EXPORT CO. DIRECTOR ARRESTED OVER EXTORTION

Police in Mbarara city on Wednesday arrested Ssebunya Muhammad Ali a resident of Wakiso district and the Chief Executive Officer Kauthra Agency Limited a labour exporting company for extorting Ugx.44 million from Ugandans.
Ssebunya was arrested from his office at Bam Complex in Mbarara city after he allegedly snubbed summons by the office of the deputy Resident City Commissioner Mbarara city south,Aruho Moses.
Addressing the media in Mbarara city, Aruho Moses explained that Ssebunya was arrested following complaints from 11 youths who came at his office, demanding for refund of Ugx.44 million, Ssebunya extorted from them in pretense of finding them jobs abroad.
Aruho revealed that police officers conducted a search at Ssebunya’s office and recovered marijuana, Fake Covid 19 vaccination cards, computers among other things.
He said Ssebunya claims to have a license from ministry of gender to export labor in Poland, Kuwait, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Quarter and Abudabi which police are still investigating.
Aruho added that Ssebunya is currently being detained at Mbarara central Police Station awaiting charges.
He said the operation against fraudsters is still on to have the rest detained.
In his defense Ali Ssebunya revealed that his exporting company has been in operation for five years, however the company was unable to take the youth who had applied of recent and the company was to refund them their cash on 11th. Nov,2022 but instead the youths rushed to authorities.
Sam Muhoozi a resident of Rugaga in Isingiro District alleged that he applied in Kauthra Agency Limited in September,2021 seeking a job in Kuwait, of which the company asked him to pay UGX.600.000 and promised him to get clearance in two months.
