MBARARA LC OFFICIAL KILLED IN ATTEMPT TO BREAK UP FIGHT

Police In Mbarara City are investigating Circumstances under which a village Defence Secretary of Kacheche East,Kakiika Division , Mbarara city was murdered as he tried to mediate residents who were fighting.

The deceased has been identified as Abdallah Hamidu Kiggundu ,80 years.

According to Ahmed Karangwa the Chairperson Local Council One Kacheche East,on Saturday evening the deceased while in Kacheche East cell tried to mediate residents who were fighting over land issues and in the process unknown assailant cut him severally on the head.
Karangwa says locals later rescued Kiggundu who was rushed to Mbarara regional referral hospital where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

Ronald Taremwa the city councillor representing Kakiika Division says Kiggundu was called to intervene in the matter of the residents fighting over land.

Taremwa says the deceased who had come with a police constable from Kakiika Police station was immediately attacked and cut by unknown assailant and in reteriation the police constable shot the assailant in the leg but freed with injuries.

By press time police was yet to comment on the matter.
