MBARARA LEADERS BENCHMARKING IN KABALE DISTRICT.

The Kabale district vice chairperson, Miria Akankwasa Tugume emphasized benchmarking as a powerful mechanism for driving district performance towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in terms of local government councils’ performance and having quality of service.
She said this on 8th dec 2022 while welcoming Mbarara district officials to Kabale district for a one-day benchmarking visit.
Akankwasa, said most of the districts in Uganda have failed to carry out this system which has left them behind in terms of sustainable development.
She further revealed that this shall also help districts to know their developmental performances and borrowing of new income ideas to their respective districts.
She thanked the Mbarara district councilors for visiting kabale district to discover what they have as a district which can be helpful also for Mbarara in coming years. she also revealed that as a district they have industries and government Universities which helps the district to earn a living.
Meanwhile, Juliet Nabakooza the Mbarara district vice chairperson speaking to our reporter said this bench marking shall help them to know basic knowledge of how local revenue can be generated and collected.
Rodgers Mbabazi, the Mbarara Resident District Commissioner also asked Mbarara district councilors and technical staff to copy from Kabale on how government programs are being implemented but not politicizing them but to concentrate on things that shall develop the district for the country’s benefits at all levels.
