MBARARA: MINISTRY OF WATER OFFICIAL DROWNS IN SWIMMING POOL

An official from ministry of water and environment Mbarara branch over the weekend drowned in a swimming pool at Kosiya Hotel in Kakiika, Mbarara city North Division.
Bruce Taremwa, 27 years a civil engineer with ministry of water and environment south Western branch under the water for production department on Sunday drowned and died instantly in a swimming pool.
Eng .Catherine Kemigisha the regional manager for water for production department in the ministry of water and environment revealed that the deceased joined ministry of water as a trainee but he was retained as an engineer.
“On Sunday in the evening while in Kampala I received a shocking call that Mr. Bruce Taremwa had drowned in a swimming pool at Kosiya Hotel but the details of how it happened am not sure,” Eng. Kemigisha explained.
Eng. Kemigisha said the deceased was a hardworking man who had delivered a number of irrigation projects supporting farmers in the region.
She added that the death of Bruce was untimely as it has left a big gap in the ministry of water.
Mrs. Linda Ankwatsa who works as a sociologist at ministry of water south west branch revealed that the deceased had gone to have fun on Sunday at Kosiya Hotel and it’s alleged that the deceased didn’t want to swim until his friends persuaded him to join them in one of the swimming pools.
“Taremwa who had his swimming pool lessons at Kosiya Hotel in June this year is alleged to have drowned a moment after he joined his colleagues in the swimming pool,” Mrs. Ankwatsa explained.
She added that the deceased was later taken to a clinic adjacent to the hotel where doctors pronounced him dead before taking his body to Mbarara regional referral hospital for a postmortem.
Mr. Bagambe the father of the deceased said his son has been Knowledgeable and he has been bread winner of the family.
He revealed that the deceased was preparing to graduate with bachelors degree in civil engineering in two weeks’ time but God has decided to take him.
ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi police mouthpiece said police were still gathering details regarding the matter.
The deceased will buried tomorrow (Tuesday) at Kabingo trading Centre, Kaliro Parish, Rubindi Sub County, Mbarara District.
