MBARARA MUNICIPALITY COUNCILOR CHARGED WITH COMPUTER MISUSE

Mbarara magistrates court yesterday granted bail to a municipal councilor, Kagiko Imam Shafi representing Katete ward in Nyamitanga division, Mbarara municipality who is accused of computer misuse by abusive language.
Prosecution alleged that between 2018 and 2019, the accused went against the computer misuse act section 95 by posting in a council whatsapp group, in which he said that the municipality mayor, Robert Kakyebezi is incompetent and corrupt, in addition to going on radios spreading the same message.
Appearing before Grade one magistrate, Daphine Ayebare, Kagiko denied the charges.
Kagiko was arrested yesterday morning by Mbarara police as he reported for a police bond, presented to court, which granted him a cash bail of sh 300,000=, while his sureties have signed a non cash bail of shs 500,000 each
He will return to court on 18th February 2019.
According to the complainant, mayor Kakyebezi, court will decide and he expects justice
