MBARARA MUNICIPALITY MAYOR SUED OVER DEFAMATORY PICTURES

Mbarara municipality Mayor Robert Mugabe Kakyebezi is on spot over defamatory statements against the vice NRM chairperson Mbarara district Herbert Kamugisha.

This is after Kamugisha filed a defamatory case at Mbarara central police station against the mayor.

According to Kamugisha, Kakyebezi was behind the cropped photo of Kamugisha and Bishop of Ankole diocese Fred Sheldon Mwesigwa that is making rounds on social media declaring him as the Anglican political candidate.

Kamugisha who is also the head of laity Ankole Diocese said that he got information that there was a planned move led by Kakyebezi to disseminate the photos on the Mosques and Catholic Church with intent to promote sectarianism among religions.

When contacted, the mayor Kakyebezi disassociated himself from the group behind the photo saying that, the people behind it are intended to create a rift between him and Kamugisha.

However, Abert Nangumya claims that, he received 620,000= from Kakyebezi to help in circulating the said photo but refused noting that as a youth he could not allow what he termed as evil leaders.
