MBARARA RDC WARNS POLITICIANS AGAINST RALLIES AS COVID 19 CONTINUES TO STING

Mbarara district COVID 19 task force chairman Lt. Col. James Mwesigye has today 24th.August,2020 warned all political aspirants against staging political rallies as the district continues to register more COVID 19 cases.
Mbarara recently registered 8 COVID 19 cases in a single day alerted from areas of Kijungu, in Kakoba division Mbarara city bringing the total of admitted patients to 16.
RDC Mwesigye made these remarks in a COVID 19 press briefing held at Mbarara city council hall.
Mwesigye called upon the city dwellers to pull up their stocks as far as COVID 19 guidelines are concerned since many people have now relaxed and no longer adhere to the guidelines.
The RDC, noted that as the security team in the district they have called for the immediate closure of Full stop and Two by two bars all located in Kakoba division Mbarara city that are alleged to have housed the 8 COVID 19 cases that were received at Mbarara regional refferal hospital over the weekend.
Speaking at the same briefing ,the Mbarara regional referral hospital Director, Dr. Celestine Barigye said that so far Mbarara regional referral hospital has managed to treat 52 COVID 19 cumulative cases as of May ,17th ,2020 , 36 have so far been discharged and the hospital is having 16 COVID 19 active cases among which 8 cases were traced over the weekend.
He added that the 8 cases are the contacts of one COVID 19 patient who reported himself at the hospital on Friday after showing COVID 19 signs and symptoms.
Dr.Celestine cautioned the public to be vigilant as the scourge continues to stretch in Mbarara city
The Mbarara District Health Officer (DHO)Dr. Ssebutinde Peter said that so far they have done traced 38 primary contacts to the 8 recently confiremed cases and samples have been taken from those contacts awaiting their results.
