MBARARA REFERRAL HOSPITAL ACQUIRES HI-TECH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT

MBARARA
Mbarara regional referral hospital has secured ‘general type machine’ a diagnostic equipment that can detect various variants of Covid-19.
This machine is a donation from global health collaborative & it will be used to test a wide range of viruses.
According to Dr. Celestine Barigye the hospital director, the equipment has been installed in the East Africa laboratory, a newly completed laboratory that was funded by the government of Uganda through the ministry of health at Mbarara regional referral hospital.
Dr. Barigye acknowledged that global health collaborative pledged to continue supporting Mbarara referral hospital in terms of equipping it with necessary medical machinery.
Halson Kagure, the Mbarara regional referral public relations officer says this machine comes at a time when most health facilities in the region have been grappling with lack of adequate equipment to run several tests
According to Kagure, if Mbarara regional referral hospital is fully equipped it will spontaneously address the tendency of always taking samples to Kampala for further analysis.
Following the completion of East Africa laboratory, laboratory specialists at the regional main health facility have shifted from the storeyed building that houses administration block & private wing.
