MBARARA REFERRAL HOSPITAL RECEIVES 5 OXYGEN CYLINDERS, ICU BEDS FROM EPICENTER

Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital has today 1st.July.2021received 5 Oxygen Cylinders and 5 ICU beds as the first consignment of 10 beds pledged by Epicenter Mbarara.
The ICU beds and oxygen cylinders were delivered today during the opening of COVID 19 isolation Unit which was recently constructed at the hospital.
Handing over the relief items to the hospital director, Dr. Juliet Muwanga the Head of Epicenter Mbarara noted that since the outbreak of the second wave of COVID 19 pandemic, they have decided to give a helping hand to Mbarara regional referral hospital.
Dr. Celestine Barigye the Hospital Director Mbarara regional referral hospital commended the act by Epicenter noting that the hospital still needs more Intensive Care Unit Beds and Oxygen Cylinders to treat the increasing number of COVID 19 patients at the facility.
Dr. Barigye revealed that as of today 1st July, 2021 the hospital has managed 1050 COVID 19 cases, 276 recoveries with 114 COVID 19 related deaths. They currently have 37 COVID 19 patients in the Isolation unit.
He said that the hospital still needs 3000 COVID 19 Astrazeneca jabs to cater for over 200 people that were yesterday sent away after the hospital ran out of the vaccine.
The Resident City Commissioner Lt.Col.James Mwesigye pleaded for more support towards the hospital as it continues to admit more COVID 19 cases.
Mwesigye is now appealing to the public to be Keen with the ministry of health COVID 19 SOPs as the country is hit by the second wave of COVID 19.
