MBARARA RESIDENTS DISAPPOINTED AS PRESIDENT MUSEVENI DELEGATES WOMAN MP AT LAUNCH OF TV

Residents in Mbarara were yesterday disappointed after President Museveni delegated the district woman Member of Parliament at GNTV’s inauguration, though he has over 80 ministers plus over 40 permanent secretaries.
Uganda is known to have one of the largest cabinets in Africa, with over 80 cabinet ministers and over 40 permanent secretaries.
However ,President Museveni who was yesterday expected to officiate at the launch of Good News TV at King of Kings church in Kamukuzi Mbarara city instead delegated Magrete Rwebyambu the woman member of parliament.
Bishop Sylas Tayebwa who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Good News TV told congregation that they had planned to officially launch the television in July this year but due to COVID 19 they postponed the function to yesterday.
Bishop Sylas noted that Good News Television which started last year with a vision to inspire and entertain broadcasts; 24/7, 60 Percent of its programs in Runyankole, and the remaining portion in English.
Good News Television becomes the first Christian television in Western Uganda.
Bishop Sylas further pleaded to the president to award them the land where GNTV is situated which they have rented for 14 years.
“We’ve so far asked the district leadership to award us the land though we are still awaiting their response,” he added.
In the president’s speech that was read by Magret Rwembyambu the woman member of parliament Mbarara district ,the president pledged to work together with the church leadership in the development of church projects such as the television.
