MBARARA RESIDENTS SLEEP WITH ANIMALS UNDER SAME ROOF AS LIVESTOCK THEFT INCREASES

Residents in Kashare sub-county and Nyabisirira town council Kashari North county Mbarara district have started sleeping with their animals under one roof following the increased livestock theft in the area.
The concern was raised yesterday in a stakeholders meeting chaired by Mbarara RDC Godfrey Mbetegyerize at Omumabara C.O.U.
Fred Mwesigye the LCIII Chairperson Kashare Sub County noted that the theft of livestock including pigs, Dogs, cattle, goats has resumed in high gear and this is worrying locals in the area.
Mwesigye revealed that as a result, people have started sleeping with pigs under one roof at night for fear thieves.
He revealed that they have so far received a report from Ncuune parish in Kashare sub-county that three dogs have been stolen.
In his remarks the RDC Mbarara district Godfrey Mbetegyerize said they will soon carry out an operation to crack down the thugs.
Deus Ndyanabo the Mayor Nyabisirira Town council warned criminals whose days are numbered since locals will be forced to carry out mob justice in case one is caught red handed.
