Mbarara Central Market vendors have demanded for immediate opening of the newly constructed central market.
Donozio Kibanda the Publicity secretary Mbarara Central Market told www.mknewslink.com that the vendors who were reallocated to Mbarara city Independence Park have counted losses with their merchandise wasting to heavy rains.
Kibanda further said that Independence Park is not strategically located and customers ignore going there to buy merchandise
Kibanda added that the Market which had 1000 vendors have now reduced to only 700 vendors as others have left for other businesses.
He is now appealing to the Government and Mbarara city council authorities to fasten the program of opening the 21billion Market.
The construction of 21 billion shillings project contracted by ROKO Construction Company Limited under the Market and Agriculture Trade Improvement Project (MATIP) started in 2018 and was expected to have been complete by Feb.2020.
