MBARARA UNIVERSITY VC’S WOES ESCALATE: STAFF, GUILD REJECT COUNCIL’S APPRAISAL SYSTEM, WANT JOB ADVERTISED

Mbarara University teaching and non teaching staff have called meeting on Thursday 4th April 2019 to force the university council advertise the job of the vice chancellor instead of appraisal as the it had decided.
According to a source at the University who preferred anonymity, they are planning to lay down their tools until the University council advertises the job of the vice chancellor.
The source told www.mknewslink.com managing editor that they are concerned about the delayed search of the vice chancellor by the council after the expiry of the contract signed by the current vice chancellor Prof. Celestine Obua
The source revealed that Mr. Julius Atugonza the finance manager in charge of grants was forced to resign and they want to ask in the same meeting why he had to resign.
It further noted that the university council instituted a phrasal audit which established that the university lost 168 m unaccounted for, at the hands of director of Human Resource Prinari Behangana and university secretary Merischoa Byaruhanga adding that they will also discuss this in the meeting.
When contacted on phone, the chairman university council Ben Mbonye told www.mknewslink.com that midst this entire crisis, they consulted the attorney general for an advice which they are supposed to discuss during a meeting they have called on Friday 5th April 2019.
