The Minister for Health Jane Ruth Acheng has advised Medical Interns to withdrew from the ongoing strike and go back to work before it’s too late.
The minister noted that Medical Interns are very much free to shun medical training since they are the ones losing out.
Minister Ruth Acheng made the remarks yesterday while launching a COVID 19 mass Vaccination in Ankole Region.
She said that medical interns are free to continue with their strike but warned them that this will delay their Registration.
The minister further stated that Medical interns are not Public servants as they are just being trained and further ordered them to vacate health facilities if they can’t work.
However ,the minister said that government through ministries of health and Finance have already approved allowance enhancement for interns as it’s already in the pipeline and she hoped that in the next one week their bank accounts will be smiling.
She further challenged the leadership of Uganda Medical Association that chose to continue with their industrial action regardless of what they agreed with president Museveni.
