The minister for tourism and wild life, Prof Ephraim Kamuntu Thursday lashed out at his fellow sheema leaders for trying to block a water project that is being extended to Bushenyi district.
During the launch of a 35 billion Sheema and Bushenyi water and sanitation project, Kamuntu told his fellow sheema leaders that water has no boundary and therefore should not complain that water sourced from Kitagata in sheema district is being extended to Bushenyi district.
Prof. Kamuntu who is also an area member of parliament for Sheema south was forced to make the above comments following Sheema district chairman, David Kabigumira complaining that Bushenyi was going to get too much water whereas Sheema owns the source.
Other leaders had also echoed their disatisfaction on why Bushenyi should not get water from Sheema.
Dr. Elioda Tumwesigye the MP for Sheema north and minister for science, technology and innovations told the gathering that complaints of water are normal because even Uganda complains to Egypt over River Nile.
The managing director of National Water and Sewerage corperation Dr. Eng. Silver Mugisa warned politicians to leave issues of water to technical officers.
“Please put politics in others sectors like electricity and roads but not water. You know that minister Otafiire told people to leave issues of Generals to generals therefore sheema politicians should leave issues to us” Dr. Mugisha said.
