MINISTER KAROORO TO EMPOWER MORE YOUTH IN PRACTICAL SKILLS

The Bushenyi district woman MP Hon Mary Karoro Okurut has today received the lists of people to benefit in the skilling program from different Parishes in Bushenyi district.
The names were submitted by the parish and sub county coordinators who met the MP at her home in Bushenyi town, Bushenyi district.
The skilling program was started by President Museveni in order to fight poverty and unemployment in Uganda.
Talking to Press shortly after the meeting on Monday, Karooro who doubles as the minister for General duties in the office of the prime minister said that the beneficiaries are trained in different practical skills including, catering, building and construction, tailoring, fashion and design, hair dressing among others.
Hon Karoro said that the program started with 800 girls who are now working, then 1400 boys and has now extended to Parish Level to benefit all the people including both the trainees and the trainers.
Some of the parish and sub counties coordinators who talked to our reporter thanked Hon Karoro for supporting such developmental programs and vowed to continue registering the people who want to benefit from it.
