The Bushenyi district MP Mary Karooro Okurut has revealed that if Uganda wants to get rid of COVID-19, residents must adhere to the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and the president.
Karooro who is also the minister for general duties in the office of the Prime Minister was talking to www.mknewslink.com reporter shortly after the presidential address about Corona Virus pandemic on Tuesday Evening March 24th 2020.
She said Corona Virus can be manageable if all Ugandans put in action what the ministry of health and the government are requesting them to do such as washing hands daily using water and soap, wearing gloves and nose masks, keeping proper hygiene, avoiding crowded places, and reporting any suspected cases in their communities.
She thus called upon all Ugandans to always rush to medical centers in case they feel any illness and any COVID-19 symptoms.
“Why do you hide after seeing symptoms, if we don’t go for medical treatment, the disease will spread easily to all communities and it gets hard to stop it,†minister added.
She warned all individuals who are still holding secret meetings amidst the pandemic saying that if anyone is caught, he or she will be charged.
“The same applies to school administrators who are still teaching learners, it’s against the law. We recently intercepted the lessons at two schools in Kampala, such people act as if they do not know what we are fighting with,†she noted.
The ministers words come at a point where security and health teams in various districts are gearing up efforts to quarantine every suspected patient especially those who recently returned from abroad.
Uganda has currently confirmed 9 cases and all of them arrived in Uganda from abroad.
