Meeting with the residents yesterday on the contested land in Nyamatete, the minister for lands, Housing and Urban Development Judith Nabakoba directed the lands protection officer to investigate the matter widely and make those that messed up answerable.
The minister further directed the Resident District commissioner Rwampara district Emmy Katera to dismiss all private security guards, at the land and allow the residents to use the land until the matter is resolved.
Speaking to Robert Rutebemberwa he alleged that he acquired the land through a lease of 49 years from Kitwe-Nyamatete Farmers Cooperative society at a cost of 1.7 billion shillings noting that he still has 17 years on the land as per the agreement.
The district woman Member of Parliament Rwampara District Molly Asiimwe warned both parties to desist from acts of violence as the matter is still being handled by relevant offices.
