MITOOMA DEO WARNS HEADTEACHERS OF SCHOOLS WITHOUT LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS

School head teachers in Mitooma district have been advised to install lightning conductors at their schools in order to ensure safety of learners during rainy seasons.
The advice was made by the Mitooma District Education Officer, Barungi Peace Gloria while presiding over the headmasters’ meeting at Mitooma central Primary school in Mitooma district on Tuesday afternoon (today).
Barungi said out of 105 government aided schools, only 87 have lightning conductors and warned the18 that do not have to install as early as possible. She said most private schools have already installed them.
She also warned head teachers against abuse of office, such as misuse of funds, neglecting schools committees, which she said can lead to dismissal from office.
She wants all the head teachers to ban polythene bags from their schools and ensure that all the plastic and glass materials are disposed properly in order to conserve the environment.
Aggrey Barekye, the Mitooma district secretary for social services called upon head teachers to create income generating activities at schools such as gardens plus equipping learners with practical skills in order to match with the current education curriculum.
Mitooma district was ranked the 24th best performing district in the country in the 2019 PLE Examinations
The meeting was attended by all primary and secondary school head teachers from Mitooma district.
They were preparing for the first term for the academic year 2020 which will officially start on Monday 3rd February 2020.
