Police have heavily deployed at Mahungye secondary school in Bitereko Sub County, Mitooma district after parents in the area attempted to drag the headmaster from office.
The parents who stormed the school accused Oyesigye Elly of allegedly harassing teachers hence forcing many of them to leave the school.
The parents claimed that the prevailing situation has left the headmaster with the option of recruiting senior six leavers which has badly affected the schools academic performance.
Barigye Charles the area district councilor said that out of ninety eight candidates who sat for last years Uganda certificate exams, only three passed in grade one while the rest were ungraded something he said cant be tolerated because it is so alarming and must be reversed with immediate effect.
But the headmaster said that the school didnt perform poorly as parents claim adding that it was even ranked the tenth in Mitooma district a performance he believes was good compared to other schools in the area which didnt have any student in grade one.
Commenting on the alleged accusations levied against him, Oyesigye said that teachers who left the school were transferred because they were not performing their duties as expected since most of the time they were not in school.
He also denied recruiting senior six leavers as teachers saying they voluntarily go to school to assist continuing students in revision.
He said parents are only accusing him over his stance in disciplining bad mannered students who become a menace to the school community.
The district education officer Barungyi Peace Gloria promised to meet parents immediately and come up with lasting solutions to their concerns. She said, she didnt have any knowledge over the issues raised by the parents.
