MOB KILLS ONE OVER MOTORCYCLE THEFT IN MASINDI

A suspected motorcycle thief was on Sunday evening lynched by an angry mob in Masindi district
ASP Julius Allan Hakiza the Albertine Region Police Spokesperson has identified the deceased as Charles Odongo, a resident of Pumuziika village.
The incident happened on Sunday evening at around 5pm.
Hakiza told our reporter that on 13th July 2022, the deceased hired a boda boda rider only identified as Simon from Kabango boda boda stage and told him to take him to Kalyango to pay his workers.
‘’Along the way, the deceased pulled out a panga and attempted to kill the rider, who escaped and the deceased took off with the motorcycle registration number UEQ 341D,’’ he explained.
Hakiza further asserted that the case of attempted robbery was reported at Kinyara Police Post.
The hunt for the Odongo commenced, and he was eventually found yesterday at his home in Pumuziika,’’ he said.
The police mouthpiece disclosed that as the group of boda boda riders were evacuating him to police, another group of people from Kabango lynched him before proceeding to police.
‘’It’s unfortunate he was killed by an angry mob, we condemn the act and ask the public to desist from such,’’ he said.
Hakiza further said that they are still investigating the matter. ‘’We are not sure whether the motorcycle was recovered since he was killed before availing the whereabouts of the motorcycle,’’ he disclosed.
